Gamma dose rate probe

DGS 223 is a Gamma Dose Rate Probe designed and manufactured by AMES d.o.o. for the continuous monitoring of gamma radiation in the environment. DGS 223 autonomously performs all the necessary functions of a self-sustained local monitor. When connected to a data logger with communication link, it serves as a smart field unit of the real-time automatic early warning network. Supplied with two energy-compensated GM tubes of different sensitivities, DGS 223 can cover dose-rates from the normal background to the accidental levels

Supplied with two energy-compensated GM tubes of different sensitivities, DGS 223 can cover dose-rates from the normal background to the accidental levels.

Probes can be used as a standalone Gamma Radiation probe connected to computer or with AMES Data Logger SPA 170 as part of multi-parameter monitoring station.

Type of sensing elements in probes are energy compensated halogen GM tubes (Ambient Dose Equivalent H*(10)), mounted in the material with the absorbing characteristics, comparable to the human soft tissue and protected by thin aluminum cover.

Probe is calibrated in the accredited laboratory for secondary radiological standards (ISO/IEC 17025) relative to 137Cs; calibration certificates in original are part of the supplied documentation.

FUNCTIONS

DGS 223 performs the following functions:

  1. measurement of :
  • Dose rates (Sv/h),
  • Statistical uncertainties of measurements in %
  1. Preset count mode: with a predefined statistical uncertainty, it automatically adjusts measuring intervals to the intensity of the radiation (variable time constant of the instrument)
  2. Preset time mode: instrument measures in a predefined equal time intervals (statistical uncertainty depends on the dose rate)
  3. triggers the adjustable alarms, records their occurrences and transmits the alarm status
  4. measures the dose increment (mSv) from the last periodic report (usually 24 hours)
  5. measures the total dose (mSv) of a longer time period
